Historical fantasy about Prague in 16th century, the rule of Rudolf II . Alchemists Dee and Kelley and Dee´s clever wife Jane are agents of the mysterious Rosicrucian Brotherhood. They try to take hold of the mysterious "Carmine Lion", a powder that supposedly turns lead into gold. But cardinal Germanicus Malaspina wants the trio tortured and executed for heresy and the powder for himself.
