Copyright Dispute Policy

What is DMCA?

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a copyright protection law that safeguards original digital works such as stories, illustrations, audio, and other creative content published online. LiteraryUniverse fully respects the rights of creators and applies DMCA procedures to protect both content owners and platform users in a fair and transparent manner.

Procedure for Reporting Copyright Infringements.

  1. Internal Property (IP hosted on Literary Universe)

If the IP exists on our platform, you may submit a report directly using the Report button available on the content, you will then be promted to select which of your work is being infringed upon.

  2. External Property (IP not hosted on Literary Universe)

If the IP is not hosted on Literary Universe, you may submit a report using the Report button on the creative property that is infringing.

Do note that this option might take us longer to validate and we might require additional materials to confirm the infringement.

For both cases, you must provide the following:
  • You full legal name and contact details
  • Valid proof of ownership of the infringed work (automatically included for internal property)
  • Valid proof of infringement
  • URL of the original content (automatic for internal property)
  • A good-fait statement confirming the report is accurate, to the best of your abilities and knowledge

Our Actions

Once a Proper Bona Fide Infringement Notification is received:
  • We will verify your credentials and ownership claim.
  • If everything is valid, we will proceed to check your claim. If we determine claim as true we will make the infringing property inaccessible until:
    • A counter-notice is resolved
    • OR 14 days have passed without response
  • If no valid counter-notice is received, the content will be permanently removed.
Our goal is to protect creators while ensuring fair due process for all users.

Counter-Notice

If your content has been removed and you believe it was taken down in error, you may submit a counter-notice in the Resolution Center in the story or universe of the affected work. You will have 14 days from the initial notification to submit a counter-notice.

Your counter-notice must include:

  • Your legal identity and contact information
  • Any proof of ownership of the work
  • A statement of good faith belief that the work is not infringing
  • A legal declaration that all information is accurate

Once submitted, our team will review the dispute.
