The SEO release
We have been focusing on improving our Search Engine Optimization and everything that we can think of to resolve the Facebook issue.
Search Engine Optimization
As was discussed in the last post we have issues with Facebook. One part in trying to address this is improving technical parts of SEO and related technical aspects. It is not something that you will see visually, but sharing on social media and visibility on search engines should be better now.
This is a continuous process and there is still a few more things to do, but we have made quiet a few leaps forward. Our next step in this is to optimize images for social media sharing and improve our chances for LLMs (Large Language Models or more commonly known as AI today) to recommend us. Thanks to the aforementioned LLMs things are a bit in flux and we’ll watch closely where chips are going to fall and do our best to adapt.
Languages
Another small ongoing improvement is that we have a few extra Literary Universe domains that come to our main domain with the language variant included so that it displays in the proper language. We have also improved language detection.
Do note that once you are logged in, your language settings will be what is taken into account over everything else.
What is next and ongoing?
We’ll keep on focusing on SEO and look for other options to become more visible. We are working towards two things for the coming releases. First more emails and notifications (as requested). And ongoing work on Fan Clubs.
Notifications & emails
We wanted to move to a new and better notification system for a while. Sadly the open source solution we have chosen doesn’t have packages that are compatible with our setup, so we have to fallback to a more low level solution to manage things. We have reported the issue some time ago, but sadly no resolution at this time.
That said we are moving forward. First step we’ll implement will be a lot of new email notifications (as was requested). This will be together with the new notification system so that you can have fine grained control over the notifications.
Fan Clubs
In this release there are a few improvements to Fan Clubs. Specifically option to allow your fans to get early access to the stories you specify. This was a core feature that we wanted to get in and now we are moving to the last step of enabling fan clubs and fans to buy the subscriptions. So either in the next release or the one after that will be the main thing. We’ll keep things in public preview for a little bit as there will be rough edges that we will have to work out.
