Here starts my Japan travel journal. I will post pictures at a later date.

15.8.2018 – Day 0 – Departure

Finally the day has come. Somehow it doesn’t feel like usual. Maybe I’ve gotten used to traveling or with all the hustle my mind hasn’t realized the fact that I’m going to Japan. I go through the motions of last minute checks, double checks and worrying if I haven’t forgotten anything even after I’ve checked-in and can’t do anything about it.

When arriving to the airport I was told that the place was delayed by about 30 minutes, making my switch in Warsaw only 20 minutes. As usual the delay was then 35 minutes. At the check-in there were two Japanese asking about the transfer and we were assured that the plane is going to wait for us. I was certain that would be the case and as such I was worried more about our luggage making it. In total there were 4 other Japanese on the plane and when we landed in Warsaw all 5 of us were chaperoned on the tarmac into a special van and rushed to the terminal. As we were leaving I saw that they separated my luggage, which made me hopeful that it will make it too.

We were rushed through the terminal at points literally running to make the plane. This seemed greatly amusing to some of my Japanese friends. We made the plane and settled for the long haul. I watched two movies before trying to sleep. I’m not sure how much sleep I got, but I don’t think it was much. Economy seats just aren’t for me and in the crammed conditions there is a lot of noise from children who don’t sleep and other passengers moving along.
